My Life is Average

My rant for today is the website, www.mylifeisaverage.com, which is a sort of retaliation website to www.fmylife.com. Not that I'm hating on this website at all, quite the contrary--I think it's great and offers up some really funny personal stories. My issue with this website however, is that I don't feel that these are average daily stories. For a lot of these, I feel like they would make my day so fantastic. For example:

Today, I was taking a shower at the gym. I exited the shower, and the entire locker room was full of steam. I preceded to walk to the mirror, only to read "The Chamber of Secrets has been opened. Enemies of the heir, beware" written in the steam. MLIA

Okay, well I'm a HUGE Harry Potter fan, so to me, this would make me unbelievably excited. I don't see this as an average day at all. For me, an average day would be something like "Today, I tripped up my stairs. MLIA." I suppose, though, that I'm really easily amused, so life's little funnies seem to get me. Like today. I went to Starbucks with my roommate, only having $4 in my pocket, so I knew that I wouldn't really be able to get a drink after tax. My roommate offered to buy my drink, which was no big deal, since we do things like that for each other all the time. I couldn't decide what I wanted, and I have talked to the barista working the register before, so I told him he would decide. He made me a peppermint white mocha, ensuring me that it would "taste like Christmas." I'm a huge fan of Christmas, so I enthusically accepted my drink. When my roommate went to pay, he told us our total was $3.49 (for two mixed Starbucks drinks...clearly only the price of one), giving us a big smile. I tasted my free drink, and sure enough it did taste like Christmas! I was so happy, I gave the barista a high-five and a $3 tip. I don't think this was an average day at all--it was a great day!

So my advice: Stop and smell the roses. Enjoy the little things in life. Don't think of them as average. Instead, the small gifts life gives you should be treasures!

Quote of the Day: Life is full of beauty. Notice it. Notice the bumble bee, the small child, and the smiling faces. Smell the rain, and feel the wind. Live your life to the fullest potential, and fight for your dreams.” --Ashley Smith
